This week, I’m giving away two mysteries set in Hollywood. Both are set in the past. It’s February 1962 in James W. Ziskin’s Cast the First Stone. Tony Eberle has just landed his first role in a Hollywood movie, and the publisher of his hometown newspaper sends reporter Ellie Stone to profile the local boy. By the time she arrives, Tony has disappeared. The director swears he’ll never work again, and the producer is found dead, murdered.

Ghostwriter and amateur sleuth Stewart “Hoagy” Hoag and his basset hound Lulu are back after twenty years in David Handler’s The Girl with Kaleidoscope Eyes. It’s 1992, and Hoagy is drawn back into the life of an old girlfriend when she and her sister are contacted by their long-lost father. They haven’t heard from him in decades. Now, he wants Hoagy to ghostwrite his tell-all book. Hoagy’s caught up in the Hollywood lifestyle where the sister lives. But, when there’s murder, Hoagy has to probe family and Hollywood life.
