If people bother to have a bucket list, it’s usually an entire list of things they want to do before they die. I only have one bucket item at a time, not even a list. I wanted to go to Ireland.. My sister, Linda, and her husband and I went six years ago. Ireland was everything I had hoped it would be. So, about three or four years ago, I picked another item. I wanted to see Hugh Jackman in a musical on Broadway. I think that came about because I had the opportunity to see him on Broadway in “The River”, but I really wasn’t interested in seeing him filet a fish onstage. That’s when I said I wanted to see him in a musical. Over two years ago, before COVID hit the world, I bought tickets to see him in “The Music Man”. I waited since 2020 for this trip to New York City.

Linda and I flew from Columbus to New York last Monday. We always stay in the same hotel because it’s within walking distance of all the Broadway theaters, and some off-Broadway ones. We walked to Hell’s Kitchen that night to a little restaurant called Wine Escape.

It’s nothing fancy, a little place for wine and small meals, but they also let you sit and talk for two hours. Perfect for our first evening in the city.

Did you know most of the smaller museums in New York are not open on Tuesdays? That’s what happens when you go into NY early in the week. But, it worked out great for us. We walked to the Morgan Library and Museum because they had a Holbein exhibit. I was so excited. I’ve wanted to see some of his paintings since I read a novel years ago about Anne of Cleeves, Henry VIII’s fourth wife.

Here’s the frustration part. I’d love to share photos with you, but either my blog or the laptop is giving me fits. So, I’m going to see what I can do on my lunch hour today. I’m hoping I can get the blog and the photos to work together. If I can, that indicates to me that it’s about time for a new laptop. We’ll see.

In the meantime, this is just a little teaser about our trip. And, I haven’t even shown you the library, or talked about the plays. Let’s see what I can put together for tomorrow.
