I’m not going to list the rest of the awards. Best Short Story nominees, Best Critical or Nonfiction, Best Children’s/Young Adult, and Best Anthology can be found at http://www.stopyourekillingme.com/Awards/Anthony_Awards.html
I think the only one of those books I’ve heard of is Death by Bubble Tea, and I’m a bit more than casual in my mystery fandom.
You are, Glen. I just don’t know where the committees get their suggestions.
I’ve read (and much enjoyed) The Bullet That Missed and The Maid and Shutter (though that was way darker than the other two).
I’ve read seven of the books here, Jeff. I know you’ve probably read Martin Edwards’ nonfiction, but the titles for Short Stories and Nonfiction were so long, and I was typing all of them, that I didn’t include them.
I’ve read five of them, and since I will be attending Bouchercon this year for the first time (fingers crossed), I will be attending the awards banquet.
Have fun, Margie! Yes, fingers crossed for you.
Ive read five of those listed. I’m rooting for Shutter, a wonderful debut.
I love that readers have such opposite opinions, MM. I guess that’s why books end up on lists, and some of us don’t understand why.
There’s one book on this list that I will have my fingers crossed for; A World of Curiosities.
I really wanted to love Shutter. It’s a topic I’m fascinated by. But the brutality was more than I was able to take, so I put it down without finishing it.
There were a few books I read that I thought would end up on this list that didn’t.
I liked The Maid, Kaye, but I didn’t love it, and it surprises me how many awards it has been nominated for. Like you, I started Shutter, and didn’t get far in it. Oh, well. We all have different opinions.
I have read five of the books on that list and a sixth one on my “to be read” list and enjoyed them. Living in New Mexico I should have read Shutter ….but I am not into disturbing ghosts!! I much prefer Hillerman. However I probably should read it since it has received so many positive reviews & a National Book Award.
I think I even own a signed copy of Shutter, Pat, but haven’t read it yet.
