I had a cold this weekend. I’m not asking for sympathy. I’m in the recovery stage after sleeping the weekend away. Debbie Tung’s Book Love was the ideal selection after a cold with fever. Even I could concentrate on this delightful book of comics.
First, check out the cover. For all of us who love books, that’s what the entire collection is like. I wish I could share some of the cartoons with you. But, Tung’s publisher, Andrews McMeel did a video to publicize it. You can find it on Tung’s site, wheresmybubble.tumblr.com. That’s where she celebrates her love of books, as she does in this special little gift book.
Tung celebrates piles of books, visits to libraries and bookstores. Her character is a young woman who would rather read than go to a party, and, if she does go to a party, she reads while she’s there. There are stars in her eyes for every new book, for every smell of a new book. And, she mourns when she finishes a book, or has to leave a friend behind.
She sees books as a magic portal to adventures and other worlds. I laughed and smiled as I read the entire book. I was one of those girls who read inside on nice days, and when told to go outside, was willing to take the book outside. This book is for all of us who pack books before we pack clothes for a trip, and have to have a book with us at all times. She illustrates the book lover who has to have a bag of some sort big enough to carry a book.
Take a look at Debbie Tung’s website. Watch the video. And, if you need the perfect gift book for a book lover, this book of comics might be it.

FTC Full Disclosure – I bought my copy of the book.
I had no idea she wrote a book! I adore her comics of the girl and her books!
What a great book you had to read when you were feeling under the weather! Hope you are doing better now.
I've already heard good things about this book, Lesa. And I, of course, want to read it. I also want to read her previous book. Waiting on the library to acquire it and have the first book on hold right now.
Take care of yourself!
Thanks, Deb & Kay. Oh, I'm okay, just with that residual stuff that seems to hang on forever. I hope you both get a chance to read this book. You'll love it.
Sounds great. I have her earlier book on hold.
I want to read her earlier book, too.
This book sounds like it's right up my alley. I'm going to check it out now. Thanks, Lesa!
You're welcome, Kathy. I loved it!
Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
