Tuesday, June 2 was another rainy day, but, as I said, it didn’t stop us. We had a bus pass and took a bus to the World Trade Center and 9/11 Memorial. It was very moving.

And, One World Trade Center looked eerie in the low-hanging clouds.

Grand Central Station was a cab ride away from the WTC. It’s such a beautiful, impressive building.

Most of the time, though, our sites were walkable. We went back to the hotel, and then walked to Junior’s for dinner. I told the family if they liked cheesecake, they had to try Junior’s.  Mom and I had matzo ball soup, and then four of us split three luscious desserts.

From Junior’s, we walked down the street to the theater to see Helen Mirren in The Audience. She deserved the Tony Award she won just a few nights later. She was wonderful as Queen Elizabeth II.

Every head movement, every gesture, was perfect. Most of the actors who played prime ministers were excellent, as was the young girl who played the young Elizabeth. There were even two adorable corgis in the second act of the play. And, it’s obvious Helen Mirren has a sense of humor. After the entire cast took a curtain call, she came out by herself, and did the royal wave. Perfect!

And, a wonderful day.
