Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone! I hope you saw my post on Tuesday saying we’ll talk about “What Are You Reading?” on Friday instead of today. Many of us have other plans for today, whether it’s cooking, eating, spending time with family or friends, or just enjoying a quiet day alone.
This day always reminds me to pause and give thanks for the gifts in my life. I have a wonderful family. With luck and good weather, I’ll be spending today with them after driving five hours to my sister’s. I can certainly give thanks for the food today because my brother-in-law is a wonderful cook.
I have friends I love, and I enjoy working with others at the library. I’m very lucky in my chosen field. I’m anticipating retirement in a year and a half. At that time, I will have worked in libraries for half a century. I’ve always been surrounded by friends, great co-workers, and books.
Of course, books. What would my Thanksgiving be without giving thanks for the books in my life? I’m lucky that I can share them both through my work, my book reviews, discussions about books on Facebook, and, best of all, right here with all of you. I give thanks that we come together to share our comments about books we’ve loved and the ones that fell a little short.
I have so much to be grateful for in my life. Thank you for being part of that. Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving, Lesa! Same to all your other readers. Wow, 50 years in the library field is a great accomplishment. And I agree with you about books!
Have a safe trip.
Happy Thanksgiving, Lesa!
AND to all the Thursday people.
Happy Thanksgiving from Northern Colorado, Lesa! It’s cold but sunny this morning, so it will feel good to be inside, fixing the stuffing and pie.
Happy Thanksgiving to one and all from Casa Tipple and Home Eatery Library.
Happy Thanksgiving! I applaud you for 50 years in library work. We are ready to go with our artificial turkey cutlets, etc.
Happy Thanksgiving Lesa and everyone!
I certainly echo your comments about books, my life would have been so different, and so immeasurably much poorer, without them.
And I am also thankful for having found your blog Lesa. Our Thursday meet-ups are a fixture in my weekly calendar as much as my weekly walks with my friend Nancy. You have brought us all together so well.
See you all tomorrow!
Have a wonderful day!
I hope the day, all that driving, family, love, food were heavenly.
Here in Portland, it was a cold (42), crisp sunny day. The big turkey dinner seemed like too much, so we had lasagna, but honestly it didn’t seem special. Next year back to the bird &ct. We played Wingspan, watched football, ate, got to bed early. I didn’t read a page. I’m so thankful for my wife, Barbara, for our cats, for books, for your and other blogs.
Thank you for being you and tolerating my weirdness in all its many flavors.
