If you showed up expecting Treasures in My Closet for the December books, check back tomorrow. I know it’s not a long list, but I haven’t had time to write the post. I’ve been home in Huron, Ohio visiting my mother for the last time until at least spring. I usually don’t go home in the winter.
I drove back to Indiana today, just about a 7 1/2 hour drive. So, a little too tired to write the post after that drive.
But, it was a great visit with Mom – college football games on TV (Go Bucks!), jigsaw puzzles, game shows. It was really about just being home together. We made a trip to Burnham Orchards to pick up cider. I’ve lived in three other states, and Washington, D.C. Ohio is the only place I lived that has good cider.
So, here’s my treat – cider. And, a glimpse of Huron in the fall. Stop back tomorrow, and we’ll talk books.

I'm glad you had a wonderful trip to be with your mother. Family time together is the best! I'm thankful I was able to move closer to my younger son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren, and equally thankful that my older son has been able to join us last weekend and this weekend for some fun. Yesterday we took care of the grandchildren in my home while their mom and dad installed a trampoline–Henry's big birthday gift–should be a nice surprise this morning, on his 4th birthday. Today we'll go over to give them our gifts, and then there will be a kids' birthday party, which I will probably not attend (too many people). Autumn will be 2 years old in 3 weeks, and we will probably celebrate her birthday on Thanksgiving. Hope you have a terrific week ahead!
Thank you, Margie! You are so right. Family time together is the best; I agree. And, my mother told a few stories from her youth, so today I called her, put the phone on speaker, and had her tell them again so I could write them down. There were stories involving my Mom & Dad, my grandparents, and even my great-grandparents. Those times are precious.
Glad you had such a good trip. That is a long drive. It is about as far as we drive any one day going from here to Florida. The longest I can ever remember driving in one day was 550 miles (Portland, Oregon to Foster City, California). But I was 30 years younger then.
I know, Jeff. My husband drove us from Florida all the way home to northern Ohio once. We were much younger! It's a long drive, but worth it to spend time with Mom.
Rest yourself and have some cider me.
Loving the photos!

How did you know I brought cider back with me, Kaye?
Glad you are safely home. Glad you were able to transport some liquid crack. Sure, you say it is cider, but we all know what it really is. Liquid crack.
Oh, you were so blessed!!
Time spent with family makes life easier. Happy for you that you can still do that drive.
You forgot that your sister, Christie, spent a day with us.
I didn't forget, Mom. It was so great that Christie could do that. I was just writing a quick note.
Very Happy that you had a wonderful visit with your mother. I completely forgot to check my g-mails until now! I am still reading your posts but the last update to my compute, hid my google Icon. I missed a call from my son from shanghai, now he is asleep and I will try to call him back in a few hours from now. I have fewer appointments after next week and I want to get that icon back where it belongs, hoping to post more later.
Carol
Thank you, Carol. I'm having trouble with my Google icon on my laptop at home as well. Don't you hate that?
