One last short story to end the year? New Year’s Nosferatu is one of Heather Graham’s Krewe of Hunters short stories available on Kindle. It hints at the new spin-off that starts with The Witching Hours, published at the end of January.

Graham’s short stories feature Krewe of Hunters agents, Jackson Crow and his wife, Angela Hawkins Crow. They’re in New York City on New Year’s Eve when Angela saves a young woman’s life. She had been attacked and left for dead, claiming a vampire attacked her and sucked her blood. Jackson told Angela it was the fourth such attack in three states. After they speak with the victim at the hospital, they return with police to Central Park. With the help of a spirit, they discover a young man who has been convinced by an angry man that he must drink blood in order to live.

It’s a short story, and formulaic for a Krewe of Hunters story, but I like the Crows, the idea of FBI agents who are assisted by spirits to fight crime, and the fun locations of the stories. And, I’m looking forward to trying the spin-off series next year. I read for the characters, settings, and the history centered on each location.
