Breakfast with the giraffes! Hot chocolate at Angelina! Our special dinner in Paris! One way or another, most of Wednesday was about food.

Of course, breakfast with the giraffes at Parc Zoologique de Paris was actually about their breakfast, although they did have pastries and beverages for us. Kaye and I started out extremely early to go across town, and then had to wait outside the gates for a little while. But, it was fall in Paris, and the trees were beautiful.

And, then on to breakfast with the giraffes. There are fifteen giraffes at the Parc, 2 males, who were not in the general area for breakfast, and thirteen female.

We did get the chance to feed the giraffes.

We did spend a little time wandering around the Parc before we met up with Vickie and Lisa at Jardin du Luxembourg.

Here’s a librarian, quoting Wikipedia. But, it’s a quick way to introduce Jardin du Luxembourg. I’ll admit we didn’t see the entire garden and all of the statues, but what we did see was beautiful.
Le Jardin du Luxembourg, or the Luxembourg Garden, located in the 6th arrondissement of Paris, was created beginning in 1612 by Marie de’ Medici, the widow of King Henry IV of France, for a new residence she constructed, the Luxembourg Palace. The garden today is owned by the French Senate, which meets in the Palace. It covers 23 hectares and is known for its lawns, tree-lined promenades, flowerbeds, model sailboats on its circular basin, and picturesque Medici Fountain, built in 1620.

It was here that we accidentally came across Angelina’s. According to Kaye, they are
supposed to have the best hot chocolate in Paris. Hot chocolate and macarons! It was an
elegant, peaceful break in the midst of the hustle and bustle of Paris. Just what we all
needed. (And, that picture of me? Kaye took it, and I don’t think I ever looked happier on
the entire trip.)

It was a long walk, but we hiked over to Musee Rodin. I think we were all happy we went
there, though.

Kaye and I headed home for a short break while Lisa and Vickie retraced some of our steps from the previous day, heading to see the bouquinistes. We had a greeting party when we arrived home.
After a slight snafu, Kaye and I met Lisa and Vickie for one special dinner in Paris. We went to Restaurant Josephine Chez Dumonet. So many websites refer to this as one of the must-visit restaurants in Paris, a classic French bistro. It’s traditional, classic, and we couldn’t have been treated any better. We had reservations for 7:30 when the restaurant opens for dinner. For an excellent description of the entire experience, I’m going to refer you to an article by David Leibovitz, http://bit.ly/2g9UVaE.
We started with pate. We all had half-orders of the beef bourguignon. While Kaye had ice cream, the rest of us split a Grand Marnier souffle. The food was outstanding. The service was an impeccable as you would expect. The waiters posed for pictures with Vickie and Lisa. And, the cost? About 45 euros each, not at all bad for the best dinner we had in Paris.
