I spent the evening last night scaring poor Josh while I vacuumed, packing for a weekend trip to New York (Southwest, not Delta, so hopefully we get there and back okay), and doing wash. No reading time.
I am reading Susan Crandall’s book about a trio of barnstormers, The Flying Circus. It’s set after World War I, and begins in Indiana. I’m halfway through it, but I might not have a lot of time in the next few days.
So, what are you reading right now? I’d love to know!
Joe R. Lansdale's latest, PARADISE SKY. It's great, as expected.
Jeff M.
I love it when a book lives up to my expectations, Jeff. That's why I'm anticipating Louise Penny's new one next month. I've heard from a couple people who read it, and they loved it. So, I'm expecting that.
First of all, yes, please, for Louise's new book. Can't wait!! Nice to know that it is getting good marks. I'm reading Nicci French's new Frieda Klein book, which I couldn't wait for and purchase from the UK. It's Friday On My Mind. I love this series. Have a great trip, Lesa!
I'm enjoying Fudging The Books by Daryl Wood Gerber.
I'm reading "When You Were Older" by Catherine Ryan Hyde, and so far I'm enjoying it. Wishing you a great trip, Lesa!
I just finished The English Spy by Daniel Silva and The Fall by John Lescroart. Am halfway through North of Boston by Elisabeth Elo. Enjoyed and enjoying all. And I'll ditto everyone's remarks about eagerly anticipating Louise Penny's next Three Pines' novel.
~Tricia
That's a sign you really do love an author when you order it from the UK, Kay. I hope it lives up to your expectations.
Oh, I have Fudging the Books on my TBR pile for August, Sandy. Looking forward to it!
Thank you, Beth! Linda and I are going, so we'll have fun.
A bunch of us waiting to read that Louise Penny book, Tricia. I'm glad you enjoyed/are enjoying your books!
I'm reading Laura Lippman's Hush Hush. I've heard good things about it, and it has been engrossing so far.
I haven't read it, Margie. I'm off and on with her books. I'll read several in a row, and won't read any for a while. I've heard good things about it, too.
I'm reading Rome in Love by Anita Hughes and an ARC Super Better: A Revolutionary Approach to Getting Stronger,Happier,Braver, and more Resilient.
I have Andy McDermott's new book waiting in the wings.
Just started Someone Knows My Name by Lawrence Hill and listening to Susan Mallery's Only Yours.
I have Rome in Love, Page! I'm looking forward to it.
Someone Knows My Name – I'm not familiar with that, Lynne. I do know Susan Mallery's work. I like the books of hers that I've read.
I'm reading "North Sea Requiem" by A D Scott. It is the fourth book in series that takes place in small town Scotland in the 1950s. I have been truly loving this series and will be sorry when I am caught up waiting on the next book. Best to read from the first book since the characters change and grow throughout.
Not sure where I heard about it, maybe you? Anyway absolutely one of the best series of books that I have read.
I wish I could say it was me, but I've never heard of this series, Diane. It sounds like something I should look for, though. Thank you.
I'm reading Burnt River by Karin Salvalaggio – like it so far! Have a great trip – weather here is going to be beautiful through Saturday.
donna
Thank you, Donna! Enjoy the weather – best we've had in a while.
With Vics You Get Eggroll by Diane Vallere, #3 in the Mad Mod series.
I am reading Unlikely Friendships: 47 Remarkable Stories from the Animal Kingdom by Jennifer S. Holland.
Some Like It Scottish by Patience Griffin. I'm not really a romance reader but these are fun because of the quilting in them. Just finished The Case of the Dotty Dowager by Cathy Ace. I enjoyed enough to read the next one in the series.
Started "Double Trouble" by Deborah Cooke last night. A single-by-choice woman with a little too much computer know-how for anyone's good becomes involved with her twin sister's family (husband, two boys) after the twin takes off.
Seems ok so far, but I was extremely disappointed by a different book earlier in the week and am still wary of books by authors new to me. *sigh*
Just started reading The Stranger by Harlan Coben.
I am starting two books, Drop Dead Punk by Rich Zahradnik which I love so far. A crime reporter in New York during New York's financial's crisis. He really sets the scene with his great details.
And also reading For the King which has been on my shelf for five years. Set in Paris during Napoleon's reign when he is starting to get unpopular.
Need more time for reading. Would love to be on a plane trip where I could read and read!
Good Luck with getting their on time!!!
Carol
Checked Out, by Elaine Viets. Just picked it up at the library yesterday.
