Two nights in a row involving work events means I won’t have time to finish my book until Friday night. I’m reading Shane Gericke’s
latest thriller, The Fury, involving one detective who stands between the United States and a doomsday attack. And, she’s a woman whose husband was just brutally murdered.
Since tomorrow is book giveaway day, I have a little time to finish the book. In the meantime, what are you reading this week? I’d love to know.
I'm two thirds of the way through Black Cat Crossing by Kay Finch. I wasn't sure about the book when I first started it but I'm enjoying it.
Susan Beth Pfeffer, The Dead & The Gone, the sequel to the YA Life as We Knew It, about the aftermath of an asteroid hitting the Moon and pushing it closer to the Earth with some disastrous results.
Still reading Jonathan Yardley's Second Reading, in which he revisits favorite books like Rebecca and Pogo and Lucky Jim.
Also, the collection The MOST of Nora Ephron.

Not reading a mystery right now. I'm reading The Admissions by Meg Mitchell Moore. Loving it. Next up is The Yard by Alex Grecian. At least I think so. LOL
Oh, fun, today! I don't even recognize some of the authors, let alone titles. Yes, I do know of Nora Ephron, and have read some of her books (smile). I didn't want to sound as if I didn't know anything. But, it's always fun to see unfamiliar authors and titles.
I recently finished Two Across by Jeff Bartsch, a non-mystery which involves spelling bees and crossword puzzles as part of the intriguing story. I'm now in the middle of Linda Fairstein's Devil's Bridge.
I'm stuck in Paris (sadly, only literally) and now I'm reading The Paris Time Capsule by Ella Carey. The descriptive phrases are wonderful!
Just finished Julia Keller's Bitter River: wow! This is the second in her series about small town W. VA prosecuting attorney, Bell Elkins. I can't say enough good things about her writing: evocative and thought-provoking, just marvelous.
Will start next on Cynthia Harrod-Eagles' 16th Bill Slider mystery.
~Tricia
I'm finishing up The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss and loving it.
I'm also reading If The Oceans Were Ink:An Unlikely Friendship and a Journey to the heart of the Quran by Carla Power
Christ the Eternal Tao by Hieromonk Damascene
The Courtesan by Alexandra Curry
and finally I'll start Harriet Wolf's Seventh Book of Wonders by Julianna Baggott
Sometimes I read the same books as my son so we can talk about them. I just finished the 5th book in the Warriors series. The series looks at the dynamics of a cat society made up of four rival clans. I hope he finishes the 6th book soon so I can see what happens next. Over Labor Day weekend I read "The Martian" and loved it.
Thank you, everyone, for sharing the books you're reading! And, Trisha, I love that you read and discuss those books with your son. That's terrific! Thank you, everyone!
I'm reading the newest Bad Times time travel novel by Chuck Dixon.
I've been stuck in bed for a few days, so I'm listening to Mr. Churchill's Secretary by Susan Elea MacNeal and read by Donada Peters. It's very engaging and especially interesting in its historic aspects. Fun with depth.
Correction: Mr. Churchill's Secretary by Susan Elia MacNeal.
I just finished Crooked Heart by Lissa Evans last night. It was very good and touching. A different story about a woman and a child refugee during WWII and the meaning of family. Think I will be staring The Coincidence of Coconut Cake by Amy Reichert today.
I am reading Uncovered by Leah Lax. This one will take a long time to read, the most that I can do is three chapters a day. It is in the smallest print that I have ever seen. Hurts my eyes. It is also depressing, I keep wondering why she can't see why she has more than two options in her life. It is very instructive about the Hasidic rules to living though.
Secondly, I am really enjoying Summer In Tiffany by Marjorie Hart. A memoir written grocery slips and envelopes over the years about two Iowa college women's summer in NYC and their experience being the first women pages at Tiffany's. I love this book!!!
Oh, Carol. I loved Summer in Tiffany as well. Terrific book.
Thank you, everyone. Lots of titles there that I haven't seen.
Reine,
I know you have health issues. I just hope you're feeling better today. Hugs, my friend.
Thank you, dear Lesa. I'm feeling much better today (Saturday). Hugs. š
