Although I haven’t started it yet, Jeff will appreciate what I picked up at the library yesterday. But neither he nor his wife is likely to comment today since they’re on their way to Bouchercon in Toronto, if they’re not already there.
It’s Heather Graham’s latest Krewe of Hunters novel, Wicked Deeds. I’m addicted to these books about an elite FBI team with paranormal abilities. They’re mysteries, often with some history involved. And, there’s always a romance. This time, the setting is Baltimore, where an author is found dead in the basement of a popular Edgar Allan Poe-themed restaurant. Can’t wait to start it!
What are you reading this week? I’m not going to have much reading time this weekend, spending it with my family. But, I’m always eager to learn what you’re reading.
Since I am in Toronto for Bouchercon, I will end my social media hiatus to check in. I am reading FIELD OF GRAVES by J.T. Ellison. It is a prequel with her 3 main protagonists: Lt. Taylor Jackson, Dr. Samantha Owens and Dr. John Baldwin. I hope I can meet Jeffrey in person and that those attending Bouchercon have a great time in my hometown!
Grace! Thank you for ending your hiatus to tell everyone what you're reading. And, thank you for welcoming attendees to Toronto. I wish I could have been there to see you and your city.
Jackie will be attending a panel this afternoon with Heather Graham and Charlaine Harris, while I am at one with Bill Crider and other friends. (I will send you a picture from last night.)
Not much reading time but I've
(Sorry, got cut off)…been enjoying the collection of Edward D. Hoch's science fiction and horror stories, THE FUTURE IS OURS. Also reading BANNERLESS by Carrier Vaughn when I have time, a YA science fiction book.

I just finished Lynsey Sands latest vampire book, IMMORTALLY YOURS. I wasn’t’t sure about it since I hadn’t cared for the last few she wrote but I enjoyed this one. It went back more toward the style she started the series with.
I just picked up A ROOM WITH A BREW by Joyce Tremel from the library so,I’m going to start that next.
Lesa, I just wanted to let you know that I met Grace after the panel this afternoon. Wish you were here.
I've somehow done a lot reading:
The Girl Who Played With Fire
Sahara by Clive Cussler
Freehold by Michael Z. Williamson, a military sci-fi novel.
The Secret Files of Solar Pons.
A reckoning for Kings by Chris Bunch and Allan Cole, a historical novel about The Tet Offensive
Horse Soldiers non fiction about spec ops in Afghanistan
The Assassin Bug, an espionage novel by Ken Berquist, an indy that was better than I expected.
Mice of the Round Table, a juvie by Julie Leung.
I'm still on the waiting list for Wicked Deeds. I just started In the Wet by Nevil Shute having not read anything of his for so long. I want to see if he hold up, then I will reread Trustee from the Toolroom. Also started Murder Wears Mittens by Sally Goldenbaum…a favorite series too. Hope to finished A Legacy of Spies by John Le Carre this w/e.
I am reading Elin Hilderbrand's The Island. Since my vacation was wiped out by getting pneumonia and a lung ready to collapse, I wanted a vacation so it was time to read a book by Hilderbrand. Also won aa audiobook from GoodReads, the Ninth Hour by Alice McDermott. It is a very dark book, lots of dim winter days and hopeless situations yet it is full of love and sacrifice. Sometimes it is poetic.
