I have the feeling I haven’t done a lot of reading this week. I can tell you I took the book Bibliomysteries, edited by Otto Penzler, with me on the plane. It’s subtitled “Stories of Crime in the World of Books and Bookstores”, so I’m sure the stories by Laura Lippman, C.J. Box, Jeffery Deaver, and the other authors are just what I’m looking for.
While I’m gone, I hope you still share what you’re reading. I know how much some of you enjoy it. I do, too.
What are you reading this week?
I hope you ladies are having a great time, but then, Paris – how can you not? We're enjoying (?) the return of summer here, with temperatures soaring as high as 91 (normal for now: 73), but thankfully that is about to end for more normal weather.
What was the question again? Oh yeah, reading. I raced through the latest Walt Longmire book by Craig Johnson, which was excellent as usual except for (PARTIAL SPOILER ALERT) the nasty cliffhanger (END SPOILER). Now we have to wait to next year for the next installment. This one, by the way, alternates between now and 1972 and a young Deputy Longmire.
Now reading Peter Robinson's new Alan Banks book, SLEEPING IN THE GROUND. On the Kindle it is Tim O'Brien's JULY, JULY, about a 30 year reunion of the college class of 1969, which alternates chapters between the reunion (in 2000, a year late) and 1969 itself.
And I'm reading Shalom Auslander's BEWARE OF GOD: Stories. If you have a somewhat twisted sense of humor like mine, I'd definitely recommend this one.
I've really enjoyed the photos you and Kaye have posted on Facebook. It's easy to see that you're having a wonderful time.
I finished Harlan Coben's DON'T LET GO last night, so I'll have to find something new to read today. I think I might have a book or two around here somewhere.
I look forward to your post about Paris. It has been record breaking heat in Columbus, Ohio where I live as well but today we are getting a respite.
This week I read Keep Me Posted by Lisa Beazley. It was fun but perhaps tied up a little too unbelievably at the end.
I also read Morningstar: Growing up with Books by Ann Hood. Thanks for recommending this Lesa. Ann Hood and I are the same age and while I did not read all the books she mentioned in her memoir, I read many of them. And I also related to her stories about her big Italian family.
Now I am reading The Rejected Writers Take the Stage by Suzanne Kelman. It is the perfect funny for a busy stressful week.
Safe travel to you! Sharon
I hope you're enjoying your trip. This week I finished THE BRIGHTEST FELL by Seanan McGuirre. Now I'm reading a book of short fantasy stories, THE NEW VOICES OF FANTSY.
Just finished The Girl Before – wow – really good and it is supposed to be made into a movie by Ron Howard.
I'm enjoying your facebook photos as well, Lesa.
This week I finished Murder in G Major by Alexia Gordon. The bookcover quotes Catronia McPherson "Just when you think you've seen everything, here comes Gethsemane Brown, baton in one hand, bourbon in the other…" Gethsemane was a bit whiny at the beginning of the book but don't let that put you off. A fun book to read. From the ending I would say book 2 is on the way. I'll be watching for it.
Finished Hell Bent by Gregg Hurwitz, newest in the Orphan X series.
Harry Starke by Blair Howard, about a Chattanooga based PI.
I finished Rapture in Death and Eternity in Death both by J D Robb
I am reading another book by J D Robb in the death series. I can't give the title at this time because it is handy.
Enjoy reading this week.
I'm rereading the Corinna Chapman series by Kerry Greenwood, Gotcha! by Fern Michaels and just got Shattered by Allison Brennan.
Hope that you are having fun. I am reading Cardinal Cabin by Joanne Demaio for the author's request for a review. Also listening to The Lauras by Sara Taylor which is not what I expected at all!
I'm so glad you all talked books while I was gone! And, for those of you who saw some of the photos and enjoyed them, thank you. I will be blogging some about the trip & sharing photos – soon.
