I’ve started a fascinating book. It’s Mystery Writers of America Presents Manhattan Mayhem. It’s
edited by Mary Higgins Clark, and it celebrates the seventieth anniversary of the founding of MWA. There are stories by Lee Child, Margaret Maron, Jeffery Deaver, and others. The stories take place all over Manhattan in all kinds of time periods. And, the best part so far? The gorgeous black and white photographs that illustrate the stories. I’ve seen so many of these landmarks! And, I’m heading to New York next week, so I’ll have to watch for others. More about the story collection when I finish it. (Let me just say, though, that I loved Julie Hyzy’s “White Rabbit” set in Central Park.)
So, I’m in Manhattan today. Where are you? Where has your book taken you? What book are you reading? Is it giving you the same sense of place that I’m discovering in Manhattan Mayhem? I have all kinds of questions, but they actually come back to one. Where has your book taken you today? I’d love to know!
I'm on the ocean liner Lusitania. I just started reading Dead Wake The Last Crossing of the Lusitania by Erik Larson. So far it's interesting.
Good luck with that crossing, Sandy!
Shiprock and Monument Valley. As you can guess I'm reading Anne Hillerman's ROCK WITH WINGS.
I've always wanted to visit Monument Valley in person but haven't been closer than the Grand Canyon.
In reality, still here in Brooklyn.

I'm in London with Frieda Klein in Nicci French's 3rd book in that series, Waiting For Wednesday. Closing in on the end and loving every minute of it.
I like that "in reality", Jeff. Frankly, my reality is often the book I'm reading rather than my couch at home.
Kay, I've never read any of Nicci French's books. That's another of the someday…books.
I am in a small New Hampshire village called Pomeroy.
This is the setting for Sue Miller's book The Arsonist. Since I love all the New Englad state then this is. Good setting for me.
Isn't it great when you find an author or setting that speaks to you, Charlotte?
I'm in Victorian England in a steampunk novel called The Diabolical Miss Hyde
Oooh, Page. Visiting steampunk England. Very interesting!
I'm back on a Greyhound bus, something I'd sworn I'd never do again. I'm reading Mosquitoland, a wonderful YA novel by David Arnold.
I am in 1960's and 1980's Hollywood – the glamorous side – reading Hallie Ephron's night night, sleep tight.
I am in Newport, RI. with the Vanderbilt's and the Astors and the rest of the Gilded Newport millionaires (and others who are not) and trying to help Emma Cross solve a mystery in Murder at Beechwood by Alyssa Maxwell. What a wonderful series this is with Murder at Beechwood having its release on Tuesday. Great writing by Alyssa Maxwell.
I'm so glad everyone is enjoying their trips. Maybe not the Greyhound bus itself, Patricia, but at least the book that goes with it. Hollywood and Newport, RI. Both quite glamorous!
