This week, I”m giving away mysteries set in the book world. V.M. Burns’ Mystery Bookshop series is one of my favorites set in that world. I’m giving away Wed, Read & Dead. Bookstore owner Samantha Washington sells and solves mysteries in North Harbor, Michigan, including the murder of her mother’s wedding planner. While I enjoy the contemporary mysteries featuring Samantha, my favorite part of the books is the historical mysteries Samantha writes. As she writes the latest adventure set in England between the wars, that storyline reflects current happenings. Lady Daphne Marsh is getting married, but when the fop planning her wedding ends up with a knife in his back, she vows to nab the killer before she weds.
Clause & Effect is one of Kaitlyn Dunnett’s Deadly Edits mysteries. Freelance book editor Mikki Lincoln usually deals with crimes against the English language. However, she’s also an amateur sleuth. She’s been drafted to update and correct the script left over from the bicentennial of Lenape Hollow, now celebrating their 225th anniversary. The historical society building is being renovated for the first time since the last celebration. But, construction uncovers human remains walled up in a fireplace. just as her investigation seems to hit a cold wall, there’s another murder. Mikki just has to be careful that she isn’t the next one sentenced to death.
