This week, I’m giving away two books set in the book world. Murder By the Book is one of the books in the British Library Crime Classics series. Martin Edwards edited and writes the introduction for the collection of stories by authors such as John Creasey, Ngaio Marsh and A.A. Milne. “Featuring much-loved Golden Age detectives Nigel Strangeways, Philip Trent, Detective Chief Inspector Roderick Alleyn, and others, a bookish puzzle threatens an eagerly awaited inheritance; a submission to a publisher recounts a murder that seems increasingly to be a work of nonfiction; an irate novelist puts a grisly end to the source of his writer’s block.” The collection is even subtitled “Mysteries for Bibliophiles”.
Or, you might want to read a mystery set today rather than in the past. Victoria Gilbert’s A Fatal Booking is a Booklover’s B&B mystery. Charlotte Reed welcomes a group of guests to Chapters Bed and Breakfast for a book club retreat focused on fairy tales and classic children’s literature. But when one of the guests is poisoned at a Mad Hatter tea party, Charlotte realizes she’s fallen down a rather unpleasant rabbit hole.
