Congratulations to the winners of the last contest. Both winners have been told their books won’t go out in the mail until early next week when it’s a little warmer and some of the snow in parking lots have melted. Linda K. from Woodstock, MD won The Body in the Garden. Alicia K. from Stacyville, IA will receive Lineage Most Lethal.
First or last name, it’s a Give Me a “V” Giveaway this week. I just reviewed Gabriel Valjan’s terrific Shane Cleary mystery, Symphony Road. Set in the mid-70s in Boston, PI Shane Cleary is a man of integrity who has to juggle three cases. He’s investigating an arson, a missing teenager, and a cold case of a community activist who died of a drug overdose. How does such a PI get mixed up with an arsonist, a mobster, and the Police Commissioner? I liked this book even better than the first Shane Cleary book. It might take you a little bit to catch up with his friends, but Valjan gives readers a cast of characters to help.
Vicki Delany’s A Curious Incident is one of my favorite in her Sherlock Holmes Bookshop Mystery series. Gemma Doyle turns down ten-year-old Lauren Tierney when she wants her to look for her cat, saying she’s not a consulting detective. But, Gemma’s dog finds the missing Snowball, and Lauren is grateful. And, when Lauren’s mother is accused of murder, she returns to the bookshop to ask Gemma to investigate.
Looking for a cozier mystery? Enter to win A Curious Incident. If you want a P.I. novel that’s more violent, enter to win Symphony Road. You can enter to win both, but I need separate entries. Email me at Lesa.Holstine@gmail.com. Your subject line should read either “Win Symphony Road” or “Win A Curious Incident.” Please include your name and mailing address. The giveaway will end Thursday, Feb. 25 at 5 PM CT. Entries from the U.S. only, please.
