This week, I’m giving away two police procedurals. A routine traffic stop becomes the springboard for a surprising criminal investigation in Archer Mayor’s The Orphan’s Guilt . When John Rust is arrested for drunk driving, his lawyer looks for mitigating circumstances, such as the recent death of the driver’s younger brother. When it’s revealed the brother’s childhood brain injury was as a result of shaken baby syndrome, it becomes a murder case involving Joe Gunther and his Vermont Bureau of Investigation team. But, then vengeful memories are stirred to the point of violence, and the original suspect disappears.
How about a Detective Inspector Slider mystery by Cynthia Harrod-Eagles? In Cruel as the Grave, when a personal trainer is found murdered, his ex-girlfriend, found with blood on her clothes and hands, seems to be the obvious suspect. But, the more Slider and his team dig into it, the more suspects there are. There’s much more to this case than meets the eye.
Which police procedural would you like to win? You can enter to win both, but I need separate entries. Email me at Lesa.Holstine@gmail.com. Your subject heading should read either “Win The Orphan’s Guilt” or “Win Cruel as the Grave.” Please include your name and mailing address. The giveaway will end Thursday, June 17 at 5 PM CT. Entries from the U.S. only, please.
I didn’t know Harrod-Eagles was still writing these! Now I have to go searching…
Not easy to come by, Richard. I only discovered the Bill Slider books in the last couple years, and I went through the entire series.
I have the first 6 or 8, some in omnibus form, but it would be great to reread or read a new to me one.
I have several of those omnibus books as well.
