Congratulations to the winners of the last contest. Both books are heading to California. Jean U. from Burbank won A Dream of Death. All the Rage is going to Doreen D. from Long Beach. The books are going out in the mail today.

I may have mentioned it, but beginning even before COVID, publishers weren’t sending out as many ARCs. When COVID hit, that number took a nosedive. And, it didn’t help that I moved. I don’t have as many books to give away as I used to. (My Mom thinks that’s great. Books aren’t piled up all over the place.) So, this week, I’m giving away two more mysteries set in England, in the same series as last week. The first is Cara Hunter’s The Whole Truth.

When DI Adam Fawley is assigned a sexual assault case filed by an Oxford student against a tenured professor, he expects the facts to match up with the far too many previous reports he’s investigated time and again. But neither he nor anyone on his team imagined the victim would turn out to be a male rugby player accusing one of the university’s most respected female professors. As the detectives try to unravel the truth behind the he said/she said crime, another threat arises—someone with a personal grudge against Fawley. . .

I also have an autographed copy of Connie Berry’s Kate Hamilton mystery, The Art of Betrayal. Spring is a magical time in England–bluebells massing along the woodland paths, primrose and wild thyme dotting the meadows. Antiques dealer Kate Hamilton is spending the month of May in the Suffolk village of Long Barston, enjoying precious time with Detective Inspector Tom Mallory. While attending the May Fair, the annual pageant based on a well-known Anglo-Saxon folktale, a body turns up in the middle of the festivities. Kate is even more shocked when she learns the murder took place in antiquity shop owner Ivor Tweedy’s stockroom and a valuable Chinese pottery jar that she had been tasked with finding a buyer for has been stolen. Ivor may be ruined. Insurance won’t cover a fraction of the loss. As Tom leads the investigation, Kate begins to see puzzling parallels between the murder and local legends. The more she learns, the more convinced she is that the solution to both crimes lies in the misty depths of Anglo-Saxon history and a generations-old pattern of betrayal. It’s up to Kate to unravel this Celtic knot of lies and deception to save Ivor’s business.
