Congratulations to the winners of the last contest. Glen D. from Yuba City, CA won Lockdown. Lisa W. from Akron, IN will receive Columbus Noir. The books are going out in the mail tomorrow.
This week, I’m giving away books by authors whose last name begins with “S”. First up is Triss Stein’s Brooklyn Legacies. Urban historian Dr. Erica Donato heads to Brooklyn Heights, a neighborhood of quaint and charming streets, family names out of history, and spectacular views. But, Brooklyn Heights is also a suburb of battles. The latest involves Louisa Gibbs, a community activist locked in a dispute with The Jehovah’s Witnesses who are selling off their land. There’s also the threatening Prinzig clan, trying to buy the land adjoining Louisa’s historic home. The discovery of a body reignites old conflicts. Erica will need to use her research expertise to expose a killer.
Maybe you’d rather head to Scotland than Brooklyn. In Paige Shelton’s The Stolen Letter, bookseller Delaney Nichols’ beloved bookstore, the Cracked Spine is threatened, and she has to do everything in her power to save it, including dealing with a woman who thinks she’s Mary, Queen of Scots reincarnated.
Brooklyn or Scotland? Which book would you like to win? You can enter to win both, but I need separate entries. Email me at Lesa.Holstine@gmail.com. Your subject line should say either “Win Brooklyn” or “Win Scotland.” Please include your name and mailing address. The contest will end Thursday, July 8 at 5 PM CT. Entries from the U.S. only, please.
I’ve triedfor the Scotland, but my comment here is to say the Tour de France is sure taking a LOT of my reading time! Over four hours a day watching the world’s best pedal across the beautiful French landscape (I watch as much for the scenery as the sport). Plus, the heat is back, in the 90s, so eating cool Summer dishes in front of the TV.
Hope you’re staying comfy on your long weekend, Lesa.
Thank you, Richard! Actually, we’re lucky this weekend. Beautiful weather, low humidity. I think our high today is going to be about 80. It’s not usual to be able to open up on the house on 4th of the July weekend. We specialize in humidity here. Stay cool! If that means the Tour de France and cool dishes, then that’s good. Enjoy!
Win Brooklyn to travel to scotland
Win Scotland. Id like to travel there.
