Congratulations to the winners of the last contest. Doreen D. from Long Beach, CA won This is How I Lied. Katherine H. from Rhinelander, WI will receive Seven Lies. The books are in the mail.

This week, the authors of the two mysteries have last names that begin with “G”. In 2018, Sulari Gentill won the Ned Kelly Award for Crossing the Lines. It was released in 2020 in the U.S. as After She Wrote Him. Edward McGinnity is a character in Madeleine d’Leon’s latest book. He’s all she can think about as she writes about him writing his latest book. Edward McGinnity thinks Madeleine will be the perfect heroine for his next book. Who is the author, and who is the creation? And, who is in trouble when a killer strikes?

Would you prefer a more traditional story? How about The Knife Slipped, the lost book by Erle Stanley Gardner, writing as A.A. Fair? This book featured Gardner’s hardboiled detectives Bertha Cool and Donald Lam, and was meant to be the second book in the series. But, it remained unpublished until recently because Gardner’s publisher objected to Bertha’s language and behavior. It’s a story of adultery and corruption by the author of the Perry Mason books.
Which book would you like to win? You can enter to win both, but I need separate entries. Email me at Lesa.Holstine@gmail.com. Your subject heading should read either “Win After She Wrote Him” or “Win The Knife Slipped.” Please include your name and mailing address. Entries from the U.S. only, please. The giveaway will end Thursday, July 9 at 5 PM CT.
