1889 England or World War II on the U.S. home front? Which time period appeals to you? I can’t wait to read Libby Fischer Hellmann’s War, Spies, and Bobby Sox. Hellmann looks at the effect of the war in Illinois in a trio of stories. A farm girl is involved in a dangerous love triangle with two German soldiers held in an Illinois POW camp. A war refugee is forced to risk her life spying on the developing Manhattan Project in Chicago. And, espionage surrounds the disappearance of an actress from the thriving Jewish community of Chicago’s Lawndale. Action, terror, and tragedy didn’t just occur in the war zones.

Will Thomas takes private enquiry agent Cyrus Barker and his assistant Thomas Llewellyn to a private island in Hell Bay. They’re reluctantly acting as security at a secret conference, as Her Majesty’s government meets with representatives from the French government. But, soon after they all land at Lord Hargrave’s private island off the coast of Cornwall, Hargrave is killed by a sniper shot, and the French ambassador’s head of security is found stabbed to death. Now, the remaining members of the group are trapped on the island with no way to escape.

Which historical period appeals to you? You can enter to win both books, but I need separate entries. Email me at Lesa.Holstine@gmail.com. Your subject heading should read either “Win War, Spies, and Bobby Sox” or “Win Hell Bay.” Please include your name and mailing address.
