Congratulations to the winners of the latest contests. Antiques Ravin’ is going to Deanna S. from Lexington, KY. Jana B. from Vancouver, WA won The Bad Break. The books are going out in the mail today.
There’s no contest this week. I’m going to be out of town at the end of next week, so won’t be around to mail packages. Check back for the next giveaway to kick off on Friday, May 31.
There will be blog posts during the week, though. I have books to talk about, including a Treasures in My Closet post for June 1. Don’t forget to stop by!
Hi, I asked this earlier and some kind people pointed me to Goodreads ( which I have since joined.)
Since FictFact has abruptly closed down do you know of any website that does what it did? Keep track of series and next books, notify you when the next one comes out, organize series according to how far I am in the series, etc. Fictfact really worked for me and my reading, Goodread seems to be set up a bit differently and it is harder for me to be as organized as I used to be with it.
Thanks for all your book info. As I've said before you are my go-to person for all things mystery.
Have fun wherever you are next week.
Hi Diane,
I did read your question earlier, and saw that some pointed you to Goodreads.
In the late 1990s, Willetta Heising did a couple books, Detecting Men and Detecting Women. They were wonderful, and I own the latest editions. You can still order them through Amazon, and they list mystery series, and you can check off books you've read or own. However, they are woefully out of date, unless you're only reading older series.
I don't know of anything that does what FictFact did. It would be a tough job, keeping track of series, and notifying you of the forthcoming ones.
StopYoureKillingMe.com is my go to source for series, in order, by author or character. I supposed you could print out the pages for each author you regularly read, but that doesn't help you with the forthcoming series titles.
The Real Book Spy does a good job with forthcoming thrillers, but that doesn't help with regular mysteries. https://therealbookspy.com/
Crimereads.com has a list up right now of the most anticipated crime novels of the summer, but, without going through it a second time, I'm sure it doesn't cover cozy mysteries.
I wish I could be more helpful. I really don't know anything that takes the place of FictFact. Nothing does as good a job for in-depth forthcoming books.
Stopyourekillingme.com does have a section for new hardcover releases and new paperback releases. Again, you'd have to check there regularly. I think they're probably your best source.
I'll be in New York City for 4 days next week, but I'll be checking in.
StopYourKillingMe.com also has a newsletter twice a month with new books coming out in all formats. You can also get newsletters from individual author.
Lots of info and I thank you for such a complete listing all those places. It would appear FictFact was a unique website. Guess I did not see how unique until it was gone. I should have contributed to it when given the chance, I see now it would have been really beneficial to me to keep them in business.
Gram, I did enter my 1800 mystery books on Goodreads. Took me a couple of days once I figured out what to do and how to do it. I read a lot of nonfiction so I can enter that too which is an improvement over FictFact. We'll see how it goes.
Thanks for everyone's help.
You're welcome, Diane. I wish there had been a similar resource to share with you.
