Congratulations to the winners of the last contest. Bomber’s Moon is returning to Vermont, going to Nancy H. from White River Junction, VT. Aubrey H. from Vienna, VA won The Unspoken. The books are going out in the mail tomorrow.
Readers might not want to fly again after reading either of this week’s giveaways. Debut author T.J. Newman’s Falling is a current New York Times bestseller. Here’s the blurb on the back cover of the book. “You just boarded a flight to New York. There are one hundred and forty-three other passengers onboard. What you don’t know is that thirty minutes before the flight your pilot’s family was kidnapped. For his family to live, everyone on your plane must die. The only way the family will survive is if the pilot follows his orders and crashes the plane. Enjoy the flight.”
It would probably be interesting to read Newman’s book and compare it to Clare Mackintosh’s Hostage. Although it’s the inaugural nonstop flight between London and Sydney, it’s just another day for flight attendant Mina. A way to put some distance between herself and the secrets that are devastating her marriage and burdening her already trouble five-year-old daughter. Then, she gets a note. “The following instructions will save your daughter’s life.” Any of the hundreds of strangers on the plane could be behind that note. Someone on the plane doesn’t want it to reach its destination. There are twenty hours between London and Sydney, twenty hours to make a choice for everyone on board. With hundreds of lives in your hands, could you sacrifice the one you love most?
Falling or Hostage; which book would you like to win? You can enter to win both, but I need separate entries. Email me at Lesa.Holstine@gmail.com. Your subject heading should read either “Win Falling” or “Win Hostage.” Please include your name and mailing address. The giveaway will end Thursday, August 5 at 5 PM CT. Entries from the U.S. only, please.
Yikes! I’m not so sure I’d be courageous enough to fly again after reading these!
Sandie, I agree. I didn’t read either of them before giving them away.
I haven’t flown for years.
Update from yesterday on weather, etc. It was 94 at 5pm when the power company shut down our A/C as a power conservation measure. Air came back on at 8pm, then at 8:55 all the power went out. It was out all night and came on at just after 11am this morning, less than half an hour ago. Miserable hot night and we hope not to have lost food and meds in refrigerator. Supposed to hit 98 today. No cause for overnight outage given, so far.
– steps off whiner box.
I love to fly, so I didn’t read the books, Rick. But, that’s terrible that you were without power all night! So many people might have lost food and meds! I’m so sorry. That’s just awful.
