Did you catch Cherie Priest’s first Booking Agents mystery, Grave Reservations, when it came out last year? Leda Foley, a Seattle travel agent and sometimes psychic returns with Homicide Detective Grady Merritt in another off-beat story, Flight Risk.ed ab

It’s been a year since Leda and Grady solved a murder case together, but she’s eager to use her psychic abilities to help others, even if those abilities don’t always lead in the right direction. When Don Matarese shows up at her travel agency, he’s desperate for information about his missing sister, Robin Reddick. She disappeared from her work site with $30,000 in a bank pouch, but Don insists she’s not a criminal. He’s worried about her, and half-convinced her cheating husband, Paul, was involved in her disappearance. The professor never reported his wife missing. It was their son, Jeff, who insisted on reporting it to the police.

Grady Merritt is oblivious that a woman is missing. But, his dog has disappeared, and Grady’s teen daughter, Molly, is frantic. Cairo was frightened and bolted when they were hiking in the Mount Rainier Paradise area. They’ve been out handling out leaflets, but screams finally indicate something’s going on in the park. When Cairo shows up, he has a man’s leg in his mouth. This might be a job for the local police, but Grady’s interested since his dog found a body part.

By the time the leg’s owner is identified, Grady and Leda discover they’re working two sides of the same case, the disappearances of Robin and Paul Reddick. Grady’s reluctant to include Leda in his investigation, but she has proved helpful in the past. And, she has been hired as a consultant for the Seattle Police Department.

Several dogs, scandals on campus, and, of course psychic karaoke nights at the local bar, all add up to an enjoyable mystery with fun characters. Take a Flight Risk with Leda and Grady and the rest of the cast.
