If I didn’t have a fever, aching muscles and bones, and a cough, I would have finished Tim Sullivan’s The Bookseller. I read half of the book on Friday, and then slept all day on Saturday.

DS George Cross has all kinds of surprises in his personal life and work life. None of them make George happy. He’s having a hard time coping with his father’s health, his mother moving in to take care of Raymond. Then, there are changes as Josie Ottey is promoted. George’s team of Josie, Dr. Michael Swift and Alice Mackenzie is all askew.

Then, there’s the latest case for the Avon and Somerset police department. A bookseller who specializes in rare books in murdered. Of course, George concentrates on the background with booksellers who might not always be on the up-and-up.

I really can’t tell you too much about The Bookseller. As always, Sullivan has surprises around every corner, including the identification of the victim.

I hope to get back to the book today.
