Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! If you have all five the subjects in the picture above, you have extra reasons to be thankful this year. I know I do. Despite 2020 and the travel I missed, I consider myself fortunate.
I still have my health. I hope none of us reading this get COVID. I’ll be waiting for the vaccine to be available so I can travel again eventually.
I’m home this Thanksgiving with my cats. It’s warm, and I can enjoy my books, call my family, and enjoy the day.
Family. I have so much to be thankful for, beginning with my Mom and my sisters, Linda and Christie. The extended family is loving and I enjoy time spent with them. Maybe not in 2020, but it will come. (And, most of them love to read!)
Friends. I’m lucky. I have friends all over the place thanks to my work and my blog. This year, I want to thank one friend in particular, Erin Mitchell. If you’re able to read the blog today, it’s because of all of Erin’s work to get it transferred to WordPress. I’m thankful for all my friends, all over the country. I love you, and many of you are “family”.
Food. I don’t cook much, but I’m perfectly capable of making a turkey breast and the dishes I like for Thanksgiving. I make one heck of a pie, too, but I won’t bother for just me. But, everything else? Yes! Leftovers are great!
And, of course, I’m thankful for books and my blog, and all of the readers here. If you missed “What Are You Reading?” yesterday, feel free to comment today or on yesterday’s post. I’m always curious.
Thanksgiving isn’t one day. It’s not just a day to eat too much, watch football (or dog shows at my place). Even those who regret that they’re not with family this year have so much to be thankful for. Thanksgiving is an attitude, not a day. I’m thankful that I have the health and the time and the ability to say thank you, publicly, for all the gifts I have in my life
Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy thanksgiving to you also. Very well written. We do have much to be thankful for, not just today but every day.
You’re so right, Mom. Every Day. I love you. Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving, Lesa. And the same to everyone else here. You’re right, of course. I am thankful every day, but Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday, partly because it is near (occasionally on) my birthday, but also the food (I love turkey and stuffing), but mostly the meaning of the day. We’ve been giving money this year mostly to places that feed the hungry – God’s Love We Deliver, City Harvest, Citymeals on Wheels, Food Bank for New York City, Feeding America, Coalition for the Homeless, No Kid Hungry – and you can’t help but feel better when you can help someone else. Chronic hunger should not be a problem in a country like ours, but sadly it is, and those of us who can help should try and do so. I did it last night and I wish I could do more.
I know what you mean, Jeff. Those are my types of charities, and I know I’ve given, and so have family members, to charities to feed the hungry this year. I started giving to food banks and those types of charities way back when I was in Florida. You’re right. Those of us who are so blessed are also blessed to be able to give back. And, no one should go hungry.
Like you, I love Thanksgiving, and I like to take the opportunity to say thank you for everything I’ve received.
Happy Thanksgiving, Lesa. I am thankful that we did get to spend some time with you in 2020. I hope you and your kitties have a relaxing day. My circle is small, but we will have our traditional Thanksgiving food tomorrow when Dawson can be here with us. I make a great pie too-since we learned from the best! Love you.
Happy Thanksgiving, Christie! I love you, and I’m thankful we did have that time together this year. Thank you! Several of us in this household appreciate turkey, so I won’t be the only one who enjoys it. (They only get a little.) We did learn pies from the best. Happy Thanksgiving and love to you and all of your family!
Happy Thanksgiving to you Lesa! You are so right, we all have much to be thankful for. I am thankful for a smaller celebration this year. It is not how we usually celebrate, but I will enjoy it anyway! Have a lovely day.
Thank you, Gretchen! Happy Thanksgiving to you and those who gather with you to celebrate. We do have so much to be thankful for. Enjoy the day!
Happy Thanksgiving Lesa and everyone.
Happy Thanksgiving, Kevin! I know it’s not an easy holiday for you. I hope you and Scott enjoy a good meal & the good company and love the two of you share.
Happy Thanksgiving, Lesa! I’m so thankful I have a husband and two pets (and books and writing) to keep me sane and content during these unsettling times. I, too, am eager for those vaccines and will get mine as soon as my turn comes. If I have to take a day in bed from the side effects, I’ll count my blessings I get to experience that instead of the virus.
I know, Patricia! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your husband!
What a lovely post, Lesa! I am so thankful to have my son Nick with me this weekend (he lives about a 2-hour drive away), and my son Zach, daughter-in-law Melany, and grandchildren Henry (4) and Autumn (2) will be over later so we can enjoy our Thanksgiving meal together. We consider ourselves one household. I’m also grateful that I was able to sell my house, buy another, and move during the pandemic–not what I envisioned, but it worked out. There is a lot to be thankful for, even during this most unusual year. Happy Thanksgiving to all of my blog friends!
Margie, You don’t know how happy I am for your with your new life. Happy Thanksgiving, my friend!
Thank you so much, Lesa! I am so grateful for the joy and light you bring to us all. ❤️
Happy Thanksgiving, Erin! Thank you for your gift of friendship. When you care for someone, you care deeply. That truly is a gift. Thank you for your kindness. Sending hugs and love to you, your husband, and all the cats, but especially Lumpy right now.
Happy Thanksgiving, Lesa!
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
Sending hugs and good wishes.
