Well, I’m snuggled down at Mom’s under an afghan. We had snow this afternoon. We haven’t been out, but both Columbus and Huron were supposed to have had sleet. So, I’m glad I drove up early before the storm hit. Now, it’s going to be the cold temperatures.
As usual while I’m at Mom’s, I won’t be reading much. And, today is a family Christmas party, if roads are good enough to go. But, I need to do some reading, too. Just don’t count on a daily post. Instead, settle in with a good book, and stay warm!

We are having our first real snow of the season (boo!) now, as it changed from light rain to light snow early this morning. So far it has pretty much covered the cars and the streets, and I’m hoping there won’t be much more. We’re staying in the next couple of days anyway, waiting for the promised warmup starting Wednesday.
The last three years in New York the snow totals were only 2 inches, 8 inches, and 12 inches last year. I don’t care how much falls this year, as long as it falls after January 3! The last big storm I remember was February 1, 2021, because it was a few days before we got our first Covid vaccine and I had to dig out the car, buried in 17 inches of snow.
Thank you, Jeff. Your weather sounds as bad as ours. I was out in it today, though, but I didn’t drive. We went to our family Christmas party.

We got 6.5 inches of snow in my part of Cincinnati. It is a whopping 4° this morning with sub zero wind chills.
It hasn’t stopped the tailgaters at Paycor Stadium for the Bengals. Go figure.
We will be under quilts reading and working on puzzles eating chicken noodle soup.

Hi Lesa – I’m so glad you arrived safely – you sound very comfortable and cosy now.
We’re actually having quite warm temperatures, though we’re back to the rain (thankfully only drizzle) – much of western Scotland has flood warnings. Here in the east we survived our recent heavy rain with no flooding so far as I know.
Today we were at a lovely bar/restaurant for coffee and delicious almond croissants. We met up with our friend who coincidentally chairs the gallery committee I’m on, so we enjoyed 2 hours of putting the (art) world to rights.
I then braved our new, enormous, M & S to buy some special mince pies and brandy butter as a gift for the wonderful staff (all 2 of them!) at my local branch library. Peter had been dropping big hints about preferring mince pies to boxes of sweets!
I hope you got to your family party Lesa, and had a great time. We’re having a quiet night in, then tomorrow I’m visiting my friend Sue on her smallholding out in the wilds of Aberdeenshire. (I most certainly would not be doing this if there was the slightest HINT of snow or ice.)
And yes, no snow required in New York till Jan 3rd Jeff – your annual journey south always reminds me of Some Like It Hot, when the girls’ band + Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon pile into those sleeping compartments on a cold and miserable night and wake up in beautiful sunshine.
Rosemary, My Dad used to make mincemeat. I always liked it, and mince meat pies. I’m sure our mince wasn’t the same as yours. A lot of people here don’t even know what it is anymore. I don’t blame Peter! On behalf of all library staff, thank you!
