It’s been a slow week. I had time to read a couple books by favorite authors, John Scalzi and Craig Johnson. And, I stayed up until 2:15 AM on election night watching the returns. I do that for all the Presidential elections. That may have been a first time for the Midterms. But, to me, it’s all stories, good and bad. I love the stories behind events.

Did I tell you I went to Otterbein University last Saturday to see “Pride & Prejudice”? What a fun play. If you think of the length of the BBC production or the book, this was so abbreviated. Just fun. A ball that takes quite a bit of time in the movie takes five minutes in this play. The college students did an excellent job. Linda and I went to “Maybe Happy Ending” last night. I knew nothing about it other than it won the Tony Award for Best Musical, five other Tonys, and was about robots. The staging was unbelievable. As Linda said, I won’t even try to figure out how they did it. And, we agreed the sound and voices were better than the other shows we’ve seen there.

What about you? What have you been doing this week? What are you reading?

It always seems when Thursdays roll around that I’ve only started a book. I’m reading Judi Dench’s Is It too Late to Make a Run for it? Margie already reviewed it. It’s a delightful autobiography, written with Brendan O’Hea.

In Is It Too Late to Make a Run for It? Judi Dench and Brendan O’Hea take us on a heartfelt and hilarious tour of her extraordinary life and career. From growing up in York and being miffed at not getting the part of Mary in the school Nativity play, to playing before sold-out houses on Broadway and in London’s West End, she’s done it all. She walked the red carpets of Hollywood, turned James Bond’s M into the most astute, unflinching Head of MI6 anyone could ever have imagined, and won an Oscar, a Tony, Golden Globes, Oliviers, and BAFTAs along the way.
