Congratulations to all the winners from the contests from this past week. Julia H. from Excelsior, MN won the script from Murder, She Wrote. Thank you again, Zac Bissonnette, for the giveaway. Melanie A. from Minneapolis, MN won Front Page Murder, and Nancy M. from Joliet, IL won Murder Most Grave. All the materials will go out in the mail today.

This week, I’m giving away cold thrillers. Maybe the winners can save the books for the next time the temperatures are in the 90s or 100s. The first one is Kathy Reichs’ latest Temperance Brennan novel, Cold Cold Bones. In the 21st book in the series, winter has come to North Carolina and, with it, a drop in crime. Freed from a heavy work schedule, Tempe Brennan is content to dote on her daughter Katy, finally returned to civilian life from the army. But when mother and daughter meet at Tempe’s place one night, they find a box on the back porch. Inside: a very fresh human eyeball. GPS coordinates etched into the eyeball lead to a Benedictine monastery where an equally macabre discovery awaits. Soon after, Tempe examines a mummified corpse in a state park, and her anxiety deepens. There seems to be no pattern to the subsequent killings uncovered, except that each mimics in some way a homicide that a younger Tempe had been called in to analyze. Who or what is targeting her, and why?

Maybe you’d like to win Iced by Felix Francis. Miles Pussett is a former steeplechase jockey. Now he gets his adrenaline rush from riding down the Cresta Run, a three-quarter-mile Swiss ice chute, head first, reaching speeds of up to eighty miles per hour.
Finding himself in St Moritz during the same weekend as White Turf, when high-class horseracing takes place on the frozen lake, he gets talked into helping out with the horses. It is against his better judgement. Seven years before, Miles left horseracing behind and swore he would never return.  When he discovers something suspicious is going on in the races, something that may have a profound impact on his future life, Miles begins a search for answers. But someone is adamant to stop him – and they’ll go to any lengths to do it . . .

Which thriller would you like to win? You can enter to win both, but I need separate entries. Email me at Lesa.Holstine@gmail.com. Your subject line should read either “Win Cold Cold Bones” or “Win Iced.” Please include your name and mailing address. The giveaway will end Thursday, August 18 at 5 PM CT.
