Congratulations to the winners of the Halloween book giveaway. Ronald O. from Stockton, CA won Be My Ghost. Halloween Party Murder is going to Marilynne S. from Portland, OR. The books are going out in the mail tomorrow. (Wish us luck on the mail!)

This week, I’m giving away two books that have nothing in common except they are both crime novels. I have one more Halloween book, Seven-Year Witch by Angela M. Sanders, for those who like cozy mysteries. Josie Way is settling in as Wilfred, Oregon’s new librarian, but she’s just discovered she’s a witch. Will her fledgling powers be enough to save her from a spell of murder? There’s an old mill rumored to be cursed, a bloodied weapon, and a missing woman. Enough for a new witch?

I would never give away my Advanced Reader’s copy of S.A. Cosby’s Razorblade Tears if I hadn’t bought a signed first edition. Razorblade Tears is definitely not for those who like their mysteries cozy, but it’s my favorite book of the year. It’s a violent story of two ex-cons who set out to avenge the murders of their married gay sons. But, it’s so much more. It’s the story of a Black man and a Southern redneck who learn how much they have in common, how much they regret about their relationships with their sons, while finding a form of redemption. This is a terrible explanation of a powerful, unforgettable book. Check my earlier review of this engrossing book.

Which book would you like to win? You can enter to win both, but I need separate entries. Email me at Lesa.Holstine@gmail.com. Your subject line should read either “Win Seven-Year Witch” or “Win Razorblade Tears.” Please include your name and mailing address. The giveaway will end Thursday, October 21 at 5 PM CT. Entries from the U.S. only, please.
