Congratulations to the winners of the last giveaway. Carol K. from Omaha, NE won The Stolen Letter. Brooklyn Legacies will go to Patti A. from Madison, NH. The books are going out in the mail today.

This week, I’m giving away two books featuring dogged women sleuths. Chicago PI Cass Raines returns in Tracy Clark’s Borrowed Time. While Clark’s books have been nominated for numerous awards, this is the one that won the Sue Grafton Memorial Award. That’s appropriate. When I reviewed Broken Places, the book that introduced Cass, I said, “Fans of Sue Grafton’s Kinsey Millhone.or Sara Paretsky’s V.I. Warshawski will welcome Cass Raines to their ranks.” One of Cass’ friends wants her to investigate the death of the son of a wealthy Chicago family, found floating in Lake Michigan near his luxury boat. Cass would like to call his death accidental or suicide, but violence escalates around her and she’s making some powerful enemies

Thomas Kies’ Random Road was reissued several months ago. This mystery introduces veteran reporter Geneva Chase, battling alcoholism and her own bad choices. She’s lost every major news job she’s had, and working for her hometown newspaper is her last chance to redeem herself. And, then she lands the story of a lifetime: six nude bodies are found hacked to pieces in a mansion on the coast of Long Island Sound. She’s back in the game with a reporter’s nose to sniff out secrets, but not everyone is thrilled to have a reporter digging up those secrets.

Which mystery would you like to win? You can enter to win both, but I need separate entries. Email me at Lesa.Holstine@gmail.com. Your subject line should read either “Win Borrowed Time” or “Win Random Road.” Please include your name and mailing address. The giveaway will end Thursday, July 15 at 5 PM CT. Entries from the U.S. only, please.
