This week, I”m giving away two historical mysteries. Charles Finch takes his detective, Charles Lenox to the U.S. during the Gilded Age in An Extravagant Death. In 1878, Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli asks Lenox to undertake a diplomatic mission to America. Arriving in New York, Lenox begins to receive introductions into both the old Knickerbocker society and its new robber barons. When the season’s most beautiful debutante is found dead, and it appears she threw herself from a cliff, he’s asked to look into the situation.

Erin Lindsey takes Rose Gallagher to the Badlands in 1887 in The Silver Shooter. Rose is working alongside her partner, Thomas, as an agent of the special paranormal branch of the Pinkerton Agency. It’s Theodore Roosevelt who hires them for a mysterious job out west. First livestock were being torn apart by an unknown predator. Now, people are being attacked, too. Roosevelt fears a single spark will set the Badlands aflame. Rose and Thomas are up against the clock and an unknown enemy.
