Congratulations to the winners of the last contest. Penny T. from Klamath Falls, OR won Jane Austen’s Lost Letters. Elizabeth H. of Green Valley, AZ will receive Garden of Sins. The books are going out in the mail today.

Stark House has been republishing classic mysteries. Today, I have two books by women, with two stories in each book. Stark House includes introductions by Curtis Evans, No Bones About It/Cold Bed in the Clay feature Detective Eric Lund. The first story is a murder with roots in the past. The second is a case of sudden death set in the academic world. The information from the publisher says, “Ruth Sawtell Wallis’s mysteries are ripe for rediscovery as prime examples of classic mid-century whodunnits with an undercurrent of sharp-eyed feminism.”

Jean Potts’ two novels are The Footsteps on the Stairs/The Troublemaker. These are two character-driven classics of psychological suspense. In the first, a woman has a premonition of her death when an old lover re-enters her life. And in the second, who could have pushed the pretty young woman from the sea cliff? According to the publisher, “Jean Potts is being rediscovered for her sharp, incisive mysteries that defined women’s suspense in the 1950s and 60s.”

So, which book would you like to win? You can enter to win both, but I need separate entries. Email me at Lesa.Holstine@gmail.com. Your subject line should read either “Win Ruth Sawtell Wallis” or “Win Jean Potts.” Please include your name and mailing address. The contest will end Thursday, Jan. 27 at 5 PM CT. Entries from the U.S. only, please.
