Congratulations to the winners of the last contest. Glen D. from Yuba City, CA won Unspeakable Things. Penny T. from Klamath Falls, OR will receive Teen Killers Club. I’m mailing the books today.

2020 and 2021 have not been easy years for anyone, but last year was certainly difficult for authors who had books released. This week, I’ve giving a little love to books published in 2020, and I”m giving away two of them. James A. Ziskin’s Turn to Stone was nominated for several awards. If you haven’t yet met Ellie Stone, she’s a young journalist working for a small town newspaper in 1960s New York. However, this locked-room mystery takes her to Florence, Italy, where she was to accept a posthumous award for her father. She’s invited to the countryside for a weekend retreat, but a suspected rubella outbreak leaves the ten people quarantined with nothing to do but tell stories. When the man who organized the gathering is fished out of the river, Ellie has to figure out if any of her new friends are capable of murder.

Lori Rader-Day’s latest standalone, The Lucky One, is also an award nominee. Most children who go missing are never found, or, at least not alive. Alice is one of the lucky ones. She was taken from her Indiana backyard as a child, but her father, a policeman, found her within twenty-four hours and brought her back. She’s never forgotten, though, and spends her spare time volunteering for a website called The Doe Project, looking to identify missing people. Then, one day, she recognizes a face as the man who took her. As Alice searches for answers, she runs across another young woman looking for her own answers. Together, they unravel a web of lies.
